NATIONAL JUNIOR ADVISORY COUNCILThe Council of the Great Nine has created a dedicated Junior Advisory Council (JAC), to improve the Council of Nine’s capacity to identify, investigate and resolve member concerns. The JAC is designed to provide a channel for members to confidentially and constructively communicate with the Council of Nine any concerns, issues, and suggestions that will strengthen the morale and success of the organization. The development of this group leads to greater consistency and transparency within the National Supreme Council (NSC), as it relates to how the members identify and resolve relevant concerns and issues. The JAC will significantly add to the Council of Nine’s decision-making process by centralizing and addressing the concerns of the members while having an avenue for members to communicate with the Council of Nine. The Junior Advisory Council has no constitutional, administrative or organizational authority and is advisory only. It exists to advise, assist and advocate for the members - so your support of and partnership with the representatives is essential to having a successful interaction with our leadership. On August 8, 2015, at the National Convention in Spartanburg, SC, an exploratory JAC meeting was held to examine general member concerns and discuss the need for the continuation of a formal JAC. The discussion centered on how the JAC will function, in order to concentrate on membership retention, organizational growth, and accountability from the leadership within the organization. In January 2016, the a meeting was held to discuss the design and set up of the Council. It was recognized that challenges are being faced by all states and that there is a need to change the mindset from within. It was recommended that more emphasis be placed on treating one another like Brothers and Sisters when differences are encountered and on closing gaps in the current processes and procedures in order to sustain the organization. It was determined the States would be grouped by Districts - each served by a District Representative and a select number of members. The participants agreed to begin outreach to the members of their respective states, develop lists of concerns within the Districts, and to come together to compare the lists and determine what is the trend of problems existing within the States. After reviewing the lists collectively, The JAC will identify the larger concerns and submit a proposal to the Council of the Great Nine. |
